The Catholic Church of Our Lady and St. Kenelm, Halesowen was consecrated by his Grace the Archbishop of Birmingham +Bernard Longley.
Here we see Archbishop +Bernard robed for the Mass of Consecration wearing the Halesowen Mitre presented to him by the Parish when he first visited us following his installation as Archbishop of Birmingham on 8th December 2009.
The Catholics of Halesowen originally had to worship in Stourbridge and then Old Hill. A converted barn served as a chapel-of-ease and was served by a priest from Our Lady of lourdes, Old Hill from 1927. Thereafter a dual purpose building was built to house the growing number of worshippers. The parish was inaugurated in 1962 and the present building was built in 1962. Give thanks to God for our church, our parish and school - long may it bear witness to the "Faith of our Fathers" Father Bruce welcomes Archbishop Bernard Longley with Philip Carew in attendance
