"THE GLORY OF THESE FORTY DAYS, WE CELEBRATE WITH SONGS OF PRAISE"
St Gregory the Great wrote those words in one of his hymns; they surprise us, because we equate Lent with gloom and the rigours of self denial and penance. The derivation of the word "Lent" is taken from the Latin word for "spring". It is a time of growth, of prayer, of drawing closer to Our Lord.
Use the time and opportunity well: "That with thee we may appear At the eternal Eastertide"
