About the Society
The St Vincent de Paul Society (SVP) is an international Christian society, Catholic in character and origin. The Society's mission is to bear witness to Christ's love and to put his teaching into practice. With mutual support, friendship and encouragement, members seek to reach out and extend their commitment through person-to-person care for those disadvantaged, neglected or in need. They seek to identify the causes of need, provide items of furniture, clothing and food where appropriate and offer the hand of friendship. In these ways members aim to develop their own spiritual lives, strengthening their own faith and deepening their love of God and their neighbour. You can find out more about the Society on its website at this address www.svp.org.uk or please look at this short introduction “Christ has no body now on earth but yours. No hands but yours, no feet but yours. Yours are the hands by which he is to bless us now.” St Teresa of Avilla. Turn your concern into action |
